Miao Xiaotian, President of China Film Co-production Corporation,and Vice President Susan Xu  took a 3-daytrip to Shanghai to attend the Great Festival of Creativity in early March, as invited by British Embassy in China and British Film Institute. Being part of the Sino-UK Year of  Cultural Exchange, Great Festival of Creativity has provided a platform for the two countries to exchange creative ideas in many fields in an all-round manner. The British Film Institute brought here fifteen top-level industry players ranging from production, distribution, talent management topost-production service, involved in great films like Harry Potter, Shaun the Sheep, Paddington, The Last King of Scotland, Mr. Turner, Les Misérables and Little Voice, all award winners of Oscar, BAFTA, Cannes, Berlin and Venice,among the others.

Miao Xiaotian delivered speeches at Sino-UK Film Co-production Round table and Sino-UK Film Culture Exchange Conference, briefing the current situation of Sino-foreign film co-production with suggestions of expanding cooperation between the two industries and starting by co-developing scripts for Sino-UK co-production. The interaction between the two industries has brought about  positive  effect forbetter mutual understanding, which is the foundation of  future co-production.

Miao Xiaotian and Susan Xu also attended the premiere of Paddington and handover ceremony of 1900's Shanghai film reel and the book A Century's Chinese Cinema. Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, graced the premiere and handed the film reel to MiaoXiaotian and Ren Zhonglun, President of Shanghai Film Group.At the closing event of the Great Festival, Miao Xiaotian and Mr. Sajid Javid, British Secretary of State for Culture,Media and Sport, jointly released the news that the Sino-UK Film Co-production Treaty signed in 2014 came into effect officially.    Thanks to the Great Festival of Creativity and the Sino-UK Film Co-production Treaty, we'll have reason to expect more collaborationbetween Chinese and British film industries and actual co-production film projectsin near future.
